Abstract Funding Acknowledgements Type of funding sources: Public hospital(s). Main source(s): No fundings related Background Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the more frequent arrhythmia in clinical practice and efficacy pulmonary vein ablation has being widely demonstrated. There still a lack information about predictive value electroanatomical voltage maps or biomarkers to predict recurrence. Purpose ST2 soluble (ST2S) biomarker previously analyzed by our group patients with AF electrical cardioversion demonstrating utility recurrence . So we sought analyze ST2S that underwent an electrophysiology study isolation (PVI) compare this biomarker. Results This was prospective, observational trial included total 156 who were referred hospital for PVI from September 2016 2019. We also 40 matched control initial analysis. All map sinus rhythm PVI. From PVI: 68 had paroxysmal 88 persistent. mean (13178.5 pg/ml) no significant difference controls (11016.2 baseline association values patients. Circumferential mapping and electric isolation of pulmonary veins in patients with atrial fibrillation.
Information about the clinical efficacy and complications of the circumferential mapping and isolation of the pulmonary veins (PVs) in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) is still limited. The present study included 75 patients (mean age 58 +/- 11 years, 20 women) with paroxysmal (n = 69) or persistent AF (n = 6). Mapping of PVs was performed with a circumferential mapping catheter. After pr...

of the right lower lobe, draining in the posterior aspect of the LA. The 4 PVs were electrically isolated by radiofrequency ablation, while sparing the accessory PV because of its small diameter and absence of electric activity in the interior. Accessory or supernumerary PVs can arise during embryologic development, and result in additional, separate openings of the LA with typically narrower a...

patients either in terms of differences in baseline characteristics or outcomes. These patients may represent an interesting population due to the mechanism by which their AF terminated, based on previous reports that coincidental elimination (e.g., via circumferential PVI) of rotors and localized AFsustaining mechanisms may explain termination (3). Specifically, it would be informative to know...
متن کاملLeft Atrial, Left Atrial Appendage and Pulmonary Veins Anatomical Variants in Patients with Atrial Fibrillation versus Patients in Sinus Rhythm.
The aim of the study is to evaluate by multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) the prevalence, location and size of LA (left atrial) diverticula and accessory appendages, the prevalence of PVs anatomical variants and LAA (left atrial appendage) shapes in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) compared to patients in sinus rhythm (SR). Images obtained by MDCT in a group of 100 patients with <1 ...
متن کاملElectrical connections between pulmonary veins: implication for ostial ablation of pulmonary veins in patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation.
BACKGROUND Electrical disconnection of the myocardial extensions into arrhythmogenic pulmonary veins (PVs) is recognized as a curative technique for paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (AF). However, the presence of electrical connections between the PVs, which may make achievement of PV disconnection difficult, has not been systematically evaluated. METHODS AND RESULTS Forty-nine consecutive pati...
